Trademark Renewals

Do Trademarks Last Forever?

For registered trademark owners, trademarks can last forever. Trademarks last as long as you continue to use the mark in commerce and file the required maintenance documents. Trademark renewals are about every five (5) years.

Have you received a Trademark Renewal Notice?

If you have received a trademark renewal notice from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, do not panic! This notice is to inform you that you need to renew your trademark application with the USPTO. The USTPO will inform you of the date that you need to submit the requested information. There are also associated fees that must be paid in order to renew your application. The USPTO will then review your information and determine if your trademark meets the requirements for renewals. In certain cases, the USPTO may conduct an audit of your trademark, before approving it for renewal.
