Are there documents that can't be notarized online?


The following documents are not able to be notarized online:

  • Testaments or codicils thereto (Last Will and Testament)

  • Trust instruments or acknowledgments

  • Donations inter vivos (Acts of Donations)

  • Matrimonial agreements or acknowledgements thereof

  • Acts modifying, waiving, or extinguishing an obligation of final spousal support or acknowledgments thereof

  • Authentic Acts (documents that must be signed in the presence of a notary and two witnesses, i.e. power of attorney documents)

How Does Remote Online Notary Work?


Louisiana Remote Online Notary services are easy and convenient. The client creates a client profile in an authorized RON software (Belle Terre Law Firm uses Cyberizeit!). Your identity is verified through one of the following means:

  • "Credential analysis" means a process through which the authenticity of an individual's government-issued identification credential is evaluated by another person through review of public and proprietary data sources.

  • Personal knowledge of the client by the notary.

  • "Identity proofing" means a process through which the identity of an individual is affirmed by another person by either of the following means:

(a) Dynamic knowledge-based authentication, such as a review of personal information from public or proprietary data sources.

(b) Analysis of biometric data, such as facial recognition, voiceprint analysis, or fingerprint analysis.
